The school is an Australian Sustainable Schools Initiative Focus School and plays an important role in the community through its participation in the regeneration of indigenous plant species and the rejuvenation of neighbouring land areas.

One of the unique features ofthe school is its Dolphin Rangers program which develops student learning and leadership through providing opportunities  to contribute to the community while fostering the principles of marine and land sustainability necessary in protecting the local population of dolphins.
