Clarkson opened in 1993. Students come from diverse cultural backgrounds; a strong English as a Second Language program is in place. A number of students are of Aboriginal heritage; as such Aboriginal Education is a focus.

An inclusive approach exists; students with special needs are supported in their education within mainstream classrooms. Staff have a strong focus on building student's collaborative and social skills linked to a strong literacy and numeracy program. Values education supported by a Chaplaincy program is in place at Clarkson.

Clarkson has quality specialist facilities and programs in the Arts, Physical Education, Technology and languages.
